At ICP Wind, we understand that high-quality maintenance of wind turbine brakes is of utmost importance. Planned maintenance helps prevent expensive downtime and possible drivetrain component damage. Brakes should be monitored and inspected at least twice a year, to sustain efficiency levels and ensure reliability. Now more than ever, operators are looking for ways to help improve sustainability and reduce operating costs.
New Facility
Our new refurbishment centre, based in Derbyshire UK, has helped customers across Europe and the United Kingdom save money, time and become more sustainable. ICP Wind offers a fully warrantied refurbishment service for all types of mechanical wind turbine brakes. Our team of experienced brake engineers are constantly looking to address specific, commonly recurring issues in turbine brakes. Not only do we offer a repair service to meet performance levels, we often look to improve and modify designs to exceed performance. ICP Wind is continually developing new and improved friction pad materials specifically for the Wind Energy Industry. Materials are formulated, manufactured and quality controlled at our own production facility in North Wales. Recent Investments include a yaw brake sword test machine where conditions in the field can be simulated.
In House Team
Our in-house production team inspect return brakes, brakes calipers, clean and degrease housings, replace all key components such as gaskets, pistons, friction pads, wear indicators, and other necessary items. Once all key components are replaced, brakes are then reassembled ready for testing. ICP Wind manufactures

Wind turbine brakes are critical for managing risk and protecting assets in the case of high wind speeds. The reliability and safety of a wind turbine rely heavily on the brake system. If the brake system is damaged, it's crucial they receive the correct repair service and are replaced with the appropriate component parts.
Used to control and hold movements, wind turbine brakes receive heavy use and must, therefore, be cared for correctly to ensure reliable and efficient performances. Wind turbine operators understand the importance of selecting the correct service provider for maintaining and repairing wind turbine brakes.
Visual Inspection
ICP Wind performs a careful visual inspection of friction brake pads. It is critical to identify the minimum required thickness of friction material, as well as pad wear patterns, as this will allow the brake to generate full torque, avoiding slipping on the brake disc. The same attention should be given to the caliper and hydraulic system for any damaged hoses or oil leaks. Similarly, checking the sliding rods for free movement and functioning pad retraction springs.
ICP Wind offers a complete refurbishment service for almost any wind turbine brake on the market. It is ICP’s main priority to hold stock of all key components to ensure a quick turnaround. In-house, our maintenance engineers will clean and degrease the brake housing, replace all key components such as gaskets, pistons, friction pads, wear indicators, and other necessary items. Once all components are refurbished, the brake will be reassembled and packaged ready for immediate delivery back to the wind farm. Alternatively, ICP Wind can supply brake components directly to the operators themselves. If the item is in stock, we can guarantee next-day delivery.

Wind Turbine Friction Pads
ICP Wind specialises in established and cutting edge friction applications for the renewable energy market.
Centrifugal rotors which convert the power of the wind into renewable energy through an electrical generator, whether they have a vertical or horizontal axis, require maintenance and periodic replacement of wind turbine brake pads which we are well placed to supply.
Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility uses the latest equipment and has the capacity to manufacture all types of friction applications, which far exceed original specifications and give significant improvements in performance and wear life over original specifications due to the latest manufacturing techniques and stringent quality control processes.
After many years of development, our formulators have perfected medium friction, rigid, non-metallic material that has exceptional mechanical resistance and may be used dry or immersed in oil. This formulation has proved to be the perfect solution for noise issues. The stringent testing proved that due to lack of residue and debris, these yaw pads reduce noise pollution dramatically. Several years after their first installation, the yaw pads continue to work efficiently, whilst maintaining an acceptable level of noise.
Whilst many companies offer a cheap alternative, far eastern imported pad, our focus, as always, is to use vast experience and knowledge to ensure the latest cutting edge materials and processes to provide the best product available

ICP Wind specialise in established and cutting-edge friction applications for the renewable energy industry. Brakes are key at various locations on a wind turbine. Regardless of size, a turbine structure will require rotor brakes, yaw control brakes, and blade pitch control brakes - all with specific design considerations.
A key component of any braking system is the friction brake pads. Brake pads are forced against a spinning rotor disc to slow and stop operations. Depending on application variables, the type of friction material can change. ICP Wind manufactures an extensive range of friction brake pads for all types of wind turbine brakes. High-quality friction materials will improve wear, reduce maintenance, manage risks and protect costs.
ICP Wind has recently invested in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that has the capacity to manufacture all types of friction materials that exceed original equipment specifications. ICP Wind focuses on not just matching OEM specifications but also improving performance. Continued investment in research and development, combined with in-house manufacturing facilities allows us to adapt to customer requirements and gives us a significant advantage over many of our competitors.
There has been significant investment in testing and R&D at our factories and our customers will testify that we have a range of replacement pads that offer solutions to problems experienced with some OEM brake pads. ICP Wind replaces many leading brands on the market, including Antec, Brembo, Coremo, Dellner, Hagglunds, Pintsch, Sime, Svendborg, Twiflex. If you are maintaining one turbine or managing several farms, ICP Wind has a solution for you.

Market Sector Wind Energy
All you need to know about ICP wind turbine brakes.
In recent years, Industrial Clutch Parts (ICP) has recognised significant growth in the wind energy sector and now has a well-established subsidiary dedicated to this particular area of industry: ICP Wind.
ICP Wind manufacture and supplywind turbine brakes and component parts to a large number of OEM and aftermarket customers across the world. Recognising the importance of O&M companies through continued investment in new and improved industry solutions.
Brakes in a wind turbine optimize performance. ICP Wind turbine brakes will improve wear, reduce maintenance, manage risks, and protect costs. If a wind turbine brake fails, the implications can be catastrophic.
ICP has developed brakes for wind turbines of any size and model. Engineered for cold and warm climates, for onshore and offshore wind turbines. The two main types of wind turbine brakes are yaw brakes and rotor brakes.
Yaw brake control is an effective way to smoothly control and position a wind turbine nacelle as it rotates with the wind to maximise power generation. ICP Wind manufactures a comprehensive range of reliable, hydraulically activated, and directly applied yaw brakes.
